One card, six verticals

How a single listing card fixed more of a classifieds marketplace than any page redesign could.

One card, six verticals

Six cards, six things to learn

In the marketplace I redesigned, cars, homes, jobs and furniture each had their own card. Moving between categories meant relearning where the price and the key facts were.

The anatomy

  1. Image: a 4:3 photo with the same crop in every vertical.
  2. Price: teal and first, because it is the one number people scan for.
  3. Specs: two lines at most, what it is, then its key facts.
  4. Location: area and posting time, always last and muted.

Why it worked

Because every vertical reused the same card, results, “Popular in…” rows and the mobile app all improved at once. One accent colour reserved for prices and primary actions did the rest: once someone learns what a teal price means, that knowledge travels with them.

Fix the pattern, not the page.
